Day Trip

Biddlestone Chapel

On this trip we explored several of Northumberland's lesser known architectural gems. Callaly Castle is not normally open to the public. We were able to see its fine plasterwork and panelled interiors. Biddlestone Chapel is a C19 Roman Catholic chapel sitting atop a medieval Pele Tower.

In Rothbury we visited All Saints Parish Church to see parts of an Anglo Saxon cross and at Brinkburn we visited the Priory Church and the shell of the Manor House. We also had the opportunity to see the Anderson Place staircase components discovered by Martin Roberts.
