Members' Evening of Short Talks

Wednesday 19th January 2022

Organiser: Hugh Dixon

Frontispiece by Hogarth to 'A Medley...'

Following the successes of recent years we held another evening devoted to short talks giving members an opportunity to address favourite subjects, share enthusiasms, outline early research or simply fly architectural-historical kites.

Topics ranged from the 18th century to our own times, from vernacular to highly formal and from the overlooked commonplace to unexpected rediscoveries:

  • Organiser Hugh Dixon spoke on Warden Church,
  • Chris Downs on Durham Cathedral windows,
  • and Stuart Barlow on furniture maker Ernest Gimson.
