Summer Trip to Perth and Perthshire

Perth was Scotland's first capital and in 2012 it regained city status.
On the way there on Saturday 4th July, we visited Kinneil House in Lothian, home of the Dukes of Hamilton in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the village of Culross in Fife, with its merchant 'palace'.
Our group of 24 stayed in the centre of Perth, at the Salutation Hotel. The house was built in 1600, and it became a hotel in 1699.
On Sunday 5th July, we walked round the city centre with a local guide, and then went to Tibbermore Church, Huntingtower Castle, and Stanley Mills, a cotton-spinning mill complex founded by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1787.
Coming home on Monday 6th July, we stopped off at Jupiter Artland's contemporary sculpture park, the extraordinary Gosford House, and the more modest Preston Tower at Prestonpans.
