This year our Annual General Meeting event was based at the Farrell Centre for Architecture, University of Newcastle. In homage to our late Vice-President Grace McCombie our chairman led an afternoon walk around the University's interestingly diverse range of buildings, generally following the route set out by Grace in her 2009 Pevsner Architectural Guide: Newcastle and Gateshead.

Foregathering in the morning over tea/coffee in the Farrell Centre was followed by a short talk on the work of the centre by a member of its staff. Then the chairman presented an overview of the development of the university's campus together with discussion of one or more of the architects involved.

In the centre, members were able to view the current exhibition "Concrete Dreams" about (amongst other things) the ambitious plans for the development of Newcastle in the 1960s and 70s.
